Why this petition matters

Started by Lana Wiggins

The U.S. Supreme Court is seeking to overturn Roe v. Wade which has been established as Law and a Constitutional Right since January, 1973.

A vast majority of the current American population has lived their entire lives with this Constitutional Right; therefore, removing Roe v. Wade from established law of the United States of America violates our 14th Amendment rights to privacy, as well as the pursuit of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

This petition seeks to have Congress strengthen Roe v. Wade by codifying Roe v. Wade into Federal Law to protect this generation of women as well as future generations.

The right to bodily autonomy is sacred to the individual, to ALL Americans, and is well established as an American Constitutional Right.

We cannot allow one generation of Justices to take control of past laws that will also ripple far into the unforeseen future because it will set a terrible precedent that will allow any Court to change ANY of our established laws. Established Law MUST be upheld.

Because we cannot predict how future Lawmakers, Judges, and Justices will interpret Roe v. Wade as it currently stands, especially through such wide degrees of variation in state laws regarding abortions, nor how they may interpret this judgement seeking to overturn established law, we must grant and protect future generations of women the Constitutional Right to Bodily Autonomy in perpetuity. One codified law for all states in the United States of America is vital to secure women's rights for today's and future generations.

Yesterday's SCOTUS told us we "can" have abortions. Today's SCOTUS seeks to tell us we "cannot" have abortions. We must take action now to ensure that tomorrow's SCOTUS cannot tell us we "must" have abortions.

Codify Roe v. Wade NOW to protect ourselves, our daughters, our granddaughters, and future generations of successors' rights to privacy as granted in the 14th Amendment.
