Expansion to the APM Centre for a More Comprehensive Community Healthy Living Centre
Expansion to the APM Centre for a More Comprehensive Community Healthy Living Centre
Why this petition matters
As members of the second largest minor hockey association on Prince Edward Island, we are witnessing firsthand the rapid growth of our community. Cornwall is not just any town; it's the fastest growing community in Atlantic Canada. Since 2001, our population has increased by an impressive 49%. This growth brings with it both opportunities and challenges.
One such challenge is meeting the recreational needs of our expanding community. Currently, many members are forced to drive to Crapaud, Rustico, Kensington and Borden to rent ice that is not readily available at our APM centre. This situation is far from ideal and underscores a pressing need for expansion.
We envision an expansion to APM Centre that would provide our 13 Communities with an improved Community Healthy Living Centre. The proposed expansion could include a second ice surface, pickleball courts, squash courts, full gymnasiums, space for a variety of sports like lacrosse and a larger weight room. Additionally we propose having more space dedicated to community meetings and child care.
Such an expansion would not only meet current demands but also cater to future growth trends predicted for our 13 Communities. It's time we invest in infrastructures that reflect who we are as a community - vibrant and growing!
Join us in urging local authorities to support this much-needed expansion of the APM centre – let’s create spaces where every member of our community can thrive! Please sign this petition today.
