Why this petition matters

Commissioned in 1928, The Neff house was built and designed by Jacksonville's most prominent architect, Mellen Greely. Known for constructing several of the city's landmarks including, , and the nearby Ribault club. Considered the "Dean of Jacksonville Architects", he called this structure his “most unique home”. The house itself sits on centuries of history, from Native settlements, British forts and plantation ground. In 1974, the Betz family moved in and discovered a strange metal sphere that captivated the nation with stories of strangeness and UFOs.

Today the house sits abandoned and decaying. It sits on national park land, but they are not caring for it. One wing has already been torn down, and the rest will likely follow suit. This petition is to get the Neff/Betz house recognized as a Historical Landmark and hopefully preserve the unique structure and its decades of strange history for future generations.
