Demand for the Enactment Access to Information Law by the Parliament of Zambia Now!
Why this petition matters
Zambia has tried but failed to enact an Access to Information (ATI) Law for a very long time! Since 2002, efforts have been made to pass ATI legislation including introducing a Bill to Parliament which was later withdrawn. Another Bill has been drafted and we would like you to join us in asking Members of Parliament to ensure that the Bill is enacted into an Act of Parliament.
The President of Zambia Mr Hakainde Hichilema has made several pronouncements that the UPND administration will in line with their party manifesto enact ATI legislation. His recent commitment was made during the Summit for Democracy in March 2023 held in Lusaka.
