In Nov 2021 BC Ambulance Service ‘Mandate Fired’ ‘Countless’ Experienced BC Paramedics for No Just Cause!  

They could have continued providing patient care using PPE but instead, the Ambulance Service fired them and the Gov’t.  supported this wrongful and discriminatory decision that violated their Charter Rights and their Contractual Agreement, At the time they did this, the Ambulance Service was already desperately short of Paramedics to staff ambulances across the Province of BC. 

Keep in mind that General Practitioner Doctors, Dentists, Chiropractors, Psychologists are all still providing patient care using Personal Protective Equipment, PPE. (ie. gloves, gowns and masks), so why did they fire BC Paramedics and Nurses who could have continued doing just the same?

These BC PARAMEDICS have years of critical patient care experience which belongs to the public of BC and is an invaluable resource that has been lost. These Heroes gave all they had for the last few years from 2019 to 2021 and they were rewarded by being fired.  These highly trained and dedicated individuals lost everything for no good reason and now they are calling on the public to help in the fight to Re-instate them back to their jobs.

This resource of highly trained Emergency Professionals belongs to the public of BC and you deserve to have it back. Make your voice known so these Paramedics can return to caring for you and your loved ones.  Almost every other province has hired back the Paramedics and Nurses, why is the BC Gov’t. putting lives in danger every moment?  Do you know that countless times in the last month, people have not been able to get an ambulance when they call 911? The situation is critical and lives are being lost…

Instead of hiring back these expert Canadian trained and experienced Paramedics, they are trying to hire internationally to hide the consequences of the wrongful terminations that they invoked. This is outrageous!

Since the Mandate Firing of countless BC Paramedics, Our Union, CUPE 873, APBC, (Ambulance Paramedics of BC) has failed to continuously expose the truth that last year Expert BC Paramedics were fired for no 'Just Cause’ contrary to our Legal Contract and that those Paramedics have filed a grievance to try to get their jobs back, scheduled to be heard in the fall of next year.

Despite countless media appearances and appeals over the last 10 months, our Union leaders have failed to constantly tell the public the truth that their members were wrongfully fired and that is a major reason why ambulances are not staffed and 911 calls can’t be answered because we have expert Trained Paramedics all across the province who are being prohibited from working. The unions duty is to defend its Contractual Collective Agreement between itself and the employer. Our union leaders seem, eager get in front of the camera and shout that we are understaffed, but they fail to keep identifying this glaring reason why we are so short of staffed Ambulances.

In just one of our Paramedic groups, We have enough Fired staff to put OVER 20 AMBULANCES ON THE ROAD IN COMMUNITIES ACROSS BC. Our union leaders reluctance to broadcast readily and repetitively this gross mistreatment of its members begs the question, ‘who or what compels them to not speak up? Daily we hear the media reporting the tragedies and deaths that are occurring due to lack of Paramedic staffing. We need the public to fight for the Ambulance Service before we endanger or lose even one more life to this dreadful situation. Its time for BC Politicians to admit their mistake and re-instate these Paramedics back to their jobs.
