Recently United States Frito Lay added Soybean’s to their ingredients but let me tell you why this is NOT GOOD. Every day people are getting told their are allergic to soy, and it is in everything.. with Lay’s they were somewhat our safe space but due to wanting to make more money then care about their people they decided to add soy to their ingredients. Lay’s states on their website that even they know Soy is one of the TOP allergens in the world… “Soy is among the top eight foods that account for 90% of allergic reactions to foods. For those with an allergy to soy, the Frito-Lay products included here contain soy and should not be consumed.”  (Literally from their website) 

Here is a conversation from a Frito Lay’s rep to a person who is allergic to soy, 

I heard back from Lays RE: soy in products -

Hi Andrea,

Thank you for writing.

In order to keep our prices low with increases in commodity ingredient costs, we are adding soybean oil to the list of potential oils in our Lay’s and Ruffles chips. This will show up in the ingredient list with an “and/or”, for example; Potatoes, Vegetable Oil (Sunflower, Corn, Canola and/or Soybean Oil), and Salt.

We understand that this change may concern individuals with an allergy or sensitivity to soybeans, however, the soybean oil being used is highly refined, a process by which the allergenic protein is removed. This practice is in alignment with the FDA guidance. Therefore, soy will not be called out within the allergen declaration in these cases and they are safe to eat.

This will not impact Ruffles Double Crunch, Lay’s Poppables, Lay’s Kettle, or Miss Vickie’s.

WORSE THING IS… there are other proteins in soy that make us people who are allergic still respond but they don’t even have to list it. That’s where we do research, but recently they full blown just added it to their ingredients which made a bunch of us sick recently without even knowing it. Some people even had an anaphylactic reaction when they never had with lays.
