What
Pioneer's proprietary software 'rekordbox' is used to DJ with their (recent) hardware and prepare USB's for this. It has been supporting Windows and Mac for decades, but since the uprise of Linux for more and more applications, it would be great for Linux users to make use of rekordbox features too, without switching machines.

Why
After this had been asked for several times (177 at the time of writing) at the Pioneer forums, the answer defaults to something along the lines of "There is only few users requesting Linux support, so we won't implement it.", followed by a topic lock. In order to turn this into a more productive situation, I have created this petition to gather more accurate numbers.

Some extra info
- As there's a Windows and a Mac version existing, we can conclude (a part of) the codebase is not OS-specific. This would mean efforts will have to be made to port it to Linux (obviously), but not all have to be rewritten. On the Pioneer DJ Forums the user 'Pulse' however added that hardware support would play a big part as well. Perhaps we can create a list later of hardware that isn't supported by the Linux kernel natively.
- As of now, rekordbox actively detects whether the instance is running in Wine and neither has the ability to export to USB's when worked around this.
- Currently efforts are being made to have reversed engineered solutions to be able to at least export to our CDJ's from Linux-based OS's. These require a lot of time and effort and barely scratch the surface of what's possible with the Pioneer DJ Hardware.
- Software like Mixxx can make use of CDJ's with a mapping and can replace the need for rekordbox's Performance Mode.
- A lot of Linux DJ's would probably be helped with a smaller export to USB tool only. The benefit of this is that they would still be in Pioneer's ecosystem, opposed to the reversed-engineered alternatives.

Once again, this is not a petition to oblige Pioneer DJ to port rekordbox to Linux, but more of an interest poll to see what actual numbers would like to see this.
