Create a Tenant Register to Protect Property Landlords

Create a Tenant Register to Protect Property Landlords
The Issue
One of the key issues for landlords when renting property is the risk involved in not knowing the history of who they are renting to. This exposes landlords to significant financial risk because of the time and associated costs of evicting tenants. The register will provide protection for landlords and allow them to make informed decisions when renting their properties.
Nyree Applegarth, a property dispute lawyer from Higgs LLP, wants to petition the government to create a tenant register as a tool for property landlords to determine why tenants were evicted from a rental property.
The register would allow landlords to do background checks on potential tenants to see if they have a history of damaging property or refusing to pay their rent – creating a more transparent approach to the rental market.

Landlords need more protection. The councils are telling the tenants what to do at the cost of innocent landlords having to pay money to get their property back and can’t claim any money back if they are on benefits
