Marine the Raccoon is a highly underrated Sonic character. She originated in Sonic Rush Adventure, where we can see her grow. However, lots of people hate for these reasons:

     1. "She’s annoying," She is 7, of course she’s going to act annoying! Plus, at the end of Sonic Rush Adventure, you can clearly tell she’s grown.

     2. "I don’t like her accent," That’s linguistic discrimination, one of the worst reasons to hate her.
     3. "She’s desperate for attention," Think of what her life was like. From Marine's point of view, she grew up being ignored her whole life, never knowing what her parents looked like or what their names even were! She finally finds someone, but then you’re being ignored. What would YOU do in this situation?

     In fact, she was hated so much that Sega removed her from the games overall. Her last appearance in a game was Sonic Rush Adventure, where it all started. She made a cameo in Sonic Colors for the DS, and was just a costume in Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. She’s in the Archie comics, but they were shut down in 2017. She was supposed to appear in the IDW comics at the end of the Metal Virus Saga, but Sega didn’t want any “new characters” being introduced at the end of an arc. Soon, Sega announced that the IDW comics are not allowed to reference the games. Now, she’s only appearing in art. And by art, I mean 3 pieces of it, with one being so small that I missed her, and someone else found out about it.

     I already said the reasons people hate her, and I was able to easily counter every single one of them. And she’s not the only character hated for illogical reasons, such as Amy, Silver, Charmy, and Cream. But what sets her apart from them is the fact that she is widely forgotten, even from Sega themselves, and it looks like whenever they get reminded, they come up with an excuse. I’m not saying Sega’s bad, in fact, they’re doing something right. They care about what the fans think. But we need to remind Sega why the fans that do love Marine.
