こんにちは！私たちは高校生です。動物愛護にとても興味があり、現在SDGsの授業の一環として日本の動物園と水族館の飼育形態を変えるために署名活動を行なっています！　

　日本の動物園の水族館の飼育環境はアニマルウェルフェア（動物福祉）・アニマルライツ（動物の権利）への取り組みが不十分です。園内の飼育環境は動物本来の生態に適応していません。

　それらによって不自然なストレスや欲求不満を強いられます。その結果、異常行動としてぐるぐる同じ場所を回ったり、柵を舐め続けたり、首を上下に振り続けたりするのです。動物達は私達の知らないところで苦しんでいます。

　この問題は、動物の日常に関する知識が足りていないから起こります。本来なら専門的な知識を持つ動物専門員の方が飼育環境を管理します。しかし、日本では動物専門員の数が不十分です。そのため、動物のストレスの原因を元から取り除き、動物専門員なしでも動物達を守ることのできる飼育環境を全国に広めましょう。

　具体的にどのような飼育環境を目指すか説明します。私たちには専門的な知識はありませんが、細かく区切る檻を無くし来園者は車に乗って園内を見て回る自然保護区のような造りを目指します。特に、コンクリートが動物にとって大きなストレスになるため、主に土や芝生を使って自然に限りなく近い飼育環境が理想です。

　私たちはこのプロジェクトを単なる学校の課題で終わらせたくありません。動物園・水族館の飼育環境を変え、本気で動物達を守りたいと思っています。一緒に動物達の人生を変えるきっかけになりませんか？？

Hello! We are high school students. We are very interested in animal welfare, and as part of our SDGs class, we are currently signing a petition to change the way zoos and aquariums are kept in Japan!　

　In Japan, zoos and aquariums are not doing enough to address animal welfare and animal rights. The captive environment in zoos and aquariums is not adapted to the natural ecology of the animals.

　This causes unnatural stress and frustration in the animals. As a result, the animals exhibit abnormal behaviors such as circling in circles, licking the fence, and shaking their heads up and down. The animals are suffering in ways we don't even know about.

　This problem is caused by a lack of knowledge about the daily lives of animals. Normally, animal specialists with specialized knowledge would be in charge of the breeding environment. However, in Japan, the number of animal specialists is insufficient. Therefore, let's eliminate the causes of stress in animals from the source and spread the rearing environment throughout Japan so that animals can be protected without animal specialists.

　Let me explain exactly what kind of rearing environment we are aiming for. We don't have any technical knowledge, but we would like to eliminate the cages that divide the animals into small groups and create a nature reserve-like environment where visitors can ride around the park in a car. In particular, since concrete is a major source of stress for the animals, the ideal environment is one that is as close to natural as possible, using mainly soil and grass.

　We don't want this project to end up being just a school project. We want to change the breeding environment of zoos and aquariums and seriously protect the animals. Won't you join us in changing the lives of animals?
