Why this petition matters

Started by Hart Seely

Since 1989, John Sterling has served as "the Radio voice of the New York Yankees." Before an ailment sidelined him in July 2019, he called play-by-play for 5,060 consecutive games, a Yankee record that will last forever.

Sterling has made famous the "Win Warble," his game-ending cry of triumph, and "homer hollers" for each Yankee. His voice has underlaid the soundtrack for generations of fans. He is known for his metaphoric words:

"You can't predict baseball, Suzyn."

At age 83, Sterling cannot go on forever. He is dropping 30 games on the remaining 2022 schedule. The end may be near.

It's time for the Yankees to honor their broadcast voice in a unique way.

Over the years, Sterling has often opined of what he'd do as manager.

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, BELIEVE THE YANKEES SHOULD DESIGNATE ONE GAME FOR JOHN STERLING TO MANAGE. His sidekick, Suzyn Waldman, can serve as bench coach.

LET STERLING MANAGE!
