This petition is on behalf of Michael Jackson the King of Pop with a request for Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and the Los Angeles City Council to have a Michael Jackson Day on August 29th, ( Michael's birthday) in honor of his philanthropic work and humanitarian aid worldwide. 

Michael Jackson is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century. During his five decade career, his contributions to music, dance and fashion have made him a global figure in popular culture. Michael has influenced artists across many music genres. 

According to some estimates,Michael Jackson has donated over 500 million dollars of his own money to various charities around the world. 

Michael Jackson's charitable work started at an early age and according to the Los Angeles Times set the standard of generosity for other entertainers. 

Michael was born in Gary, Indiana along with all his siblings but he lived the majority of his life in Los Angeles with his family members where he also tragically died. Los Angeles should have a Michael Jackson Day in memory of its own cultural and philanthropic icon.
