Why this petition matters

Started by Richard Griggs

Little Oakley Parish Council (LOPC) is opposing TDC planning application 21/02144/FUL that seeks to create compensatory coastal habitat (flooding farmland with seawater) around Hamford Water. This proposal would result in the loss of public access to Irlams beach from Little Oakley together with the closure of much of a well-used footpath that has extensive unspoilt views across the estuary. The location is rich in wildlife that includes the Fisher's estuarine moth. A Government website states: “Hamford Water… is the most important UK site for this species, supporting approximately 70% of the population.” The area is also home to a growing population of grey seals that are on the IUCN Red List for endangered species.

Please support our campaign to save this important local amenity. The petition will now be running into February and will close shortly before the official TDC consultation period ends (date tbc) . Please encourage as many people to sign as you can.
