Survey equipment theft has become an epidemic in the UK and has a huge financial strain on survey companies. Equipment insurances are sky high with extortionate accesses. Replacment of equipment also became problematic due to rising cost and chip shortages. Horror stories emerge every day as surveyors get robbed at broad daylight. Threatened with hammers and macheties to hand over their survey equipment. There are countless accounts where police doesn't even turn up. Victims only given crime numbers, despite the fact that most new equipment is fitted with trackers and can be traced.

Police do not pursue these cases even when they are given the instrument's location.

Small companies like mine are and will go out of business unless the government cracks down on this issue.

I call on the UK parliment to act by instructing the police nationwide to pursue these cases and by introducing prison sentence to those who get caught.
