23 year old Geoffrey Mwathi alias Jeff and his friends had set up an interior decor business. Dj Fatxo contacted Jeff after seeing his work first-hand at a shop in Roysambu. Dj Fatxo wanted to hire them to decorate his shop. On February 21st 2023, Dj Fatxo and Jeff met to finalize the details of the work moving forward. 

Jeff was very excited about getting the opportunity to earn some money and meet the well-known Dj. He sent a voice note via whatsapp to his mum who is in Qatar asking for Kshs 200 for fare to Ruiru to meet Dj Fatxo. In the voice note he also adds, “Mum nakaa smart, nitaenda kupiga picha na yeye tukipatana. Nitakutumia uone.” He also adds, “Ataniekea pesa kesho nianze kazi. Hapo nitakuwa fiti mum. Nitapata at least  pesa kidogo kidogo tubuy maluku na bro.”

The duo of Jeff and Dj Fatxo alongside other friends as seen in a video recorded by Jeff and sent to his mum, met during the day and spent the entire day together. In a statement, Dj Fatxo states that they later went to four clubs namely Bliss, Destiny, Ridgeways and lastly Quiver’s. 

According to CCTV footage from the Redwood apartments Jeff alongside DJ Fatxo and three unidentified women returned to the DJ's apartment around 3AM. In another car, was Dj Fatxo's driver and cousin also joined them. 

According to CCTV footage Dj Fatxo left his flat with the three unidentified women at around 4AM leaving Jeff in the house with the two men.

According to CCTV footage at around 4AM, the two men left the house and went down to the parking, and looked over. Dj Fatxo’s cousin was also seen making a call and then the two men went back to the house.  

7 minutes later, Jeff fell from the bedroom window with his pants hanging low at his knees. Jeff was discovered at 9AM when Dj Fatxo returned home and informed the two men of the situation outside the apartment. 

His friends and family insist the young man was in good spirits and never suicidal.

This petition demands:

1. The immediate investigation into the death of Geoffrey Mwathi by the Kasarani DCI.
2. The immediate arrest of those found culpable in the death of Jeff Mwathi.
3. Unequivocal judicial process for those found culpable in the death of Jeff Mwathi
