Colin Hosten is unqualified to lead as Chair of the Board of Education in Norwalk in ANY capacity.  His lack of experience, agenda, and non transparency on crucial issues has led to increased problems culminating with the "Middle School Choice" program which is simply NOT a choice.. it is a forced redistricting of our school system and it was not communicated effectively until after it was voted on.  He has no children in the Norwalk Public Schools and has systematically been involved in decision making without input from the community.

In addition his involvement and consent in "Middle School Choice" will: 

a) use our kids as guinea pigs for an untested and UNCOMMUNICATED experiment

b) promote a fundamentally FLAWED concept that 5th graders already know what they should be focusing on at school for three years (effectively wiping out a very important discovery period)

c) create a transportation, SECURITY and logistical NIGHTMARE

d) separate neighbors and friends for no good reason

All public communication and events about this policy implied an optional NOT mandatory participation.  That was eliminated without another vote by any stakeholders.  This is corruption and must be stopped.

Our request is simple : allow students that want to go to school in their district CONTINUE to have that priority.. the lottery should only be available for open slots AFTER that requirement if at all.
