Why this petition matters

Started by Sajad

The Islamic Republic of Iran, founded in 1979, repeatedly violated human rights, especially women's rights, since its establishment.

The most recent tragedy was the murder of a 23-year-old woman named Mahsa Amini by the so-called morality police, which occurred a few days ago. The police aggressively intervened and violently suppressed the people who took to the streets after this incident.

The internet has been shut down for more than 48 hours and a massacre is taking place as we speak.

We must break our silence now. It is an unbearable disgrace that the Islamic Republic of Iran is a member of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. The Islamic Republic of Iran should be removed from the UN Commission on the Status of Women immediately.

Please sign this petition and help us achieve this goal for the sake of humanity.

Note: The Commission on the Status of Women (KSK) was established on 21st of June 1946 by the decision of the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) as a functional commission of the Council. The main purpose of KSK is to protect the principle of equality between men and women in practice. In this context, the task of the KSK is to create global policies to improve women's rights and to make recommendations to the Council in line with this purpose.
