Why this petition matters

Started by Watershed Alliance of Marin

Thank you for signing our petition.

Marin County is violating environmental protections on the Dipsea Ranch proposed development, an environmentally significant property in the same Redwood Creek watershed as Mount Tamalpais State Park and Muir Woods National Monument. This proposed development threatens wildlife, habitat and public safety.

This proposed development is in a United Nations internationally recognized biodiversity hotspot of wildlife habitat, containing endangered Coho Salmon, Red Legged Frogs, Northern Spotted Owls and a multitude of other species.

To protect habitat, water and wildlife we need to raise funds now and would deeply appreciate any amount.  Here is our Go Fund Me link:

The proposed development threatens the viability of the creek that supports the endangered salmon downstream, which could lead to their extinction. Endangered Northern Spotted Owls will also be impacted by any further development because of noise and light pollution.

Under the current proposal nine units, including two  7,000 square foot homes, could be built in the Wildland Urban Interface high fire risk area. With a further subdivision another three additional  homes could be built for a total of twelve homes on an 8 acre property above Muir Woods National Monument where tens of millions are being spent to save coho salmon, steelhead, red-legged frogs  and Northern Spotted Owls.

We are asking for an Environmental Impact Report under the California Environmental Quality Act to provide a complete assessment of environmental and cumulative impacts. The County as lead agency has failed to require this vital analysis needed to protect this internationally recognized extraordinary property.
