Why this petition matters

Started by Klow Si

The Karen people in Myanmar are facing extreme persecution by the Myanmar military regime in what can be described as genocide. They are an ethnic minority and indigenous to the south eastern region of Myanmar. They live a traditional lifestyle of farming, hunting, gathering, and keeping the Earth green. Their customs and traditions are under attack due to the oppressive act of the Myanmar military as they desire access to resources and political power. As a result, the Karen people face shelling, airstrikes, bombing, rape, torture, forced labor, and infanticide. Most of the Karen people are currently displaced from their homes due to these attacks and are hiding in the horrendous conditions of the jungle. Many children are sick and starving as they do not have access to basic needs. Their existence will be wiped off the face of the Earth if we allow this continue. There needs to be transparency and more exposure in this issue as its been ongoing since 1945. This is a humanitarian crisis that the world need to care about. It is the responsibility of those who are able to come to the aid for these peaceful people. We can stop this heinous acts once and for all by coming together. Thank you. #SaveTheKarenPeople
