Why this petition matters

Started by Dave O'Keefe

Per the San Juan National Forest representatives, they and Archuleta County have partnered to develop a gravel pit and rock crushing operation only 1/3 mile from our neighborhood!  US Forest users, neighborhood and visitor safety, noise, dirt, dust and general quality of life are of great concern!  The San Juan NF has over 1,000,000 acres of potential crusher / pit sites to consider - We believe there are likely better locations than adjacent to SJRV!  The USFS recent estimate is that as many as 50 dump truck loads per day on US 160 through our neighborhood en-route to work sites.  (These loaded trucks can weigh > 25,000 Lbs.)!  We believe the current traffic volume and the large amount of STR visitors (tourists) entering / exiting the SJRV is a very serious safety concern.  We plan to present this petition opposing the Jackson Mountain Crusher / Pit to the Archuleta County BOCC and the San Juan National Forest.  We understand there is an effort to take steps to finalize their proposal as soon as December 2022!  Please sign this petition opposing the location of this crusher and pit operation.
