Why this petition matters

Started by Absalom Kross

As someone deeply concerned about the potential extinction of our diverse animal species, I am calling for immediate action. The threat of nuclear fallout or a 6th mass extinction event is real and imminent. We need to take proactive measures now to ensure the survival of all documented species - both wild and domestic.

Our proposal is for the government to create a vault on Bear Island, Svalbard that will store sperm cells and egg cells from every single documented species. This vault would serve as an insurance policy against global catastrophe, ensuring we have the means to repopulate animal species should disaster strike.

This idea is not without precedent. The Global Seed Vault in Svalbard currently stores seeds from nearly every country in the world as a safeguard against crop diversity loss (source: Crop Trust). A similar initiative for animal species could be equally successful.

The loss of biodiversity has far-reaching impacts on ecosystem health, food security, and even human health (source: IPBES Global Assessment Report). By creating this vault, we can protect our planet's biodiversity for future generations.

We urge you to support this cause - sign this petition today and help us convince our government that preserving all animal life is crucial for our planet's future.
