The Issue

I write this petition not just as a concerned citizen, but as a heartbreaking parent. My beloved daughter Coyoete Turner, brutally raped, beaten, burned, and run over by a car, suffered unimaginably at the hands of those I once called family and friends. Her assault took place whilst she was unconscious, and it is a scenario that haunts my every waking moment. This travesty must not be ignored.

It is tragic that such a personal nightmare finds resonance with too many people around the world. According to the International Labour Organization, forty million people are victims of human trafficking globally each year. It’s a chilling testament to an endemic problem. The instances of human trafficking, particularly among young girls, is not diminishing. This nefarious trade preys on the vulnerable, turning life into a living hell.

In my daughter's name, I call for the establishment of a foundation, not merely to bring attention to this horrendous crime, but to strive towards its eradication. This foundation will be dedicated to provide the necessary supports to victims and to lobby for comprehensive systemic reform.

Furthermore, there exists entrenched corruption in our justice system that has perpetuated this cycle of brutality with woefully inadequate punishments for the perpetrators. It is high time we demand stringent enforcement of punitive measures that reflect the gravity of these crimes.

For my daughter, for every other teenager cruelly stolen from their lives, we need your support. I call upon everyone, near and far, to assent this petition. Stand with us to make positive changes and assure that no more innocent souls are lost to this savagery. Together, we can seek justice, expose corruption, and cease human trafficking once and for all. Please, sign the petition.
