We the teachers and staff of Berendo Middle School oppose the proposal of Rise Kohyang High School taking over 9 of our rooms.  We oppose this for many reasons, but we would like to highlight three of them in this petition.  One, we are opening a new magnet school next year.  Because of this we plan on expanding for the next three years and will need those rooms.  Two, we are already collocated and sharing space with another school.  Our students are already impacted by lack of space.  Why do our students have to share more of their space with others, impacting resources such as the gym, auditorium, and outdoor spaces during nutrition and lunch when the students can have some space and unwind? Three, most importantly, we have middle school students and don’t feel that having high school students on a shared campus would be safe.  

Nosotros, los maestros y el personal de la Escuela Secundaria Berendo, nos oponemos a la propuesta de que la Escuela Secundaria Rise Kohyang se haga cargo de 9 de nuestros salones. Nos oponemos a esto por muchas razones, pero nos gustaría destacar tres de ellas en esta petición. Uno, vamos a abrir una nueva escuela magnet el próximo año. Debido a esto, planeamos expandirnos durante los próximos tres años y necesitaremos esas habitaciones. Dos, ya estamos colocados y compartiendo espacio con otra escuela. Nuestros estudiantes ya están afectados por la falta de espacio. ¿Por qué nuestros estudiantes tienen que compartir más de su espacio con otros, impactando recursos como el gimnasio, el auditorio y los espacios al aire libre durante la nutrición y el almuerzo cuando los estudiantes pueden tener algo de espacio y relajarse? Tres, lo más importante, tenemos estudiantes de secundaria y no creemos que sea seguro tener estudiantes de secundaria en un campus compartido.
