Protect Pendennis Headland and Save our Public Pool
Protect Pendennis Headland and Save our Public Pool
Why this petition matters
Cllr Richard Pears and the all Conservative Cornwall Council cabinet voted unanimously to close Ships and Castles (our only public pool).
Cornwall Council are actively seeking to sell the headland, despite Falmouth Town Council having said that they would like all of the Cornwall Council owned parts of the headland to be devolved to them.
Ships and Castles has now been boarded up which leaves Pendennis headland vulnerable to private property development and Falmouth, Penryn and the surrounding areas without a public pool or leisure centre and people are suffering as a result.
We, the people of Falmouth, Penryn and the surrounding area, demand that Cornwall Council :
1) Remove the threat of Pendennis headland being sold-off to private ownership.
2) Support Ships and Castles through a financial package to support the reopening of the facility.
3) Raise our area to Tier 1 status for sports and leisure provision
4) Provide adequate levelling-up and shared prosperity fund money for upgrades to be made to ships and castles or for a pool to be developed on another site
