“We’re tired of living in a war zone, “ protesters say as the number of victims in Philadelphia reached 369 on March 26 (Phila. Inquirer 4/3/23.  There were 516 homicides in Philadelphia in 2022, most deaths involving gun violence. There are 516 mothers in Philadelphia still mourning their children who were murdered last year. 

The daily toll of gun violence is not confined to Philadelphia and other large cities. Across the country, children have been shot for making the mistake of going to the wrong house, or the wrong car, or chasing an errant basketball.  Summer is coming and mothers rightly fear that their children are not safe.

There were over 200 mass gun violence incidents in the USA by March 2023.

More households in the USA have guns than any other developed country.

There are more guns than people in the United States.

Gun violence is a public health issue!!

We demand for these mothers that our legislators in Pennsylvania and in Congress act NOW, this year, to ban assault-style weapons from our streets and homes and to require permits and background checks for the purchase of guns.
