The Issue

As members of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, we are deeply concerned about the current threat to our fundamental right to freedom of religion in Japan. Our movement is rooted in love, compassion, and the belief that every individual is a precious child of God. We strive towards world peace by building loving, God-centered families.

However, our faith is now under attack. The Prime Minister of Japan is attempting to pass legislation that would dismantle our church and seize all of our assets. This not only infringes upon our fundamental rights but also undermines the principles of religious freedom that should be upheld in any democratic society.

Our movement has faced significant persecution in media and public spheres already. If this legislation were to pass, it would further restrict our ability to practice our faith freely within Japan. This goes against the principles of religious tolerance and diversity that should be upheld in any democratic society.

Freedom of religion is a fundamental human right recognized by international law. It allows individuals to express their beliefs openly without fear or discrimination. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, explicitly states this right in Article 18.

Furthermore, Article 19 of UDHR emphasizes everyone's right to freedom of expression without interference or censorship. By attempting to dismantle our church through legislative means, it infringes upon both these rights guaranteed under international law.

The Family Federation for World Peace and Unification has been actively promoting peacebuilding initiatives worldwide through various programs such as interfaith dialogue conferences, humanitarian aid projects, and educational programs aimed at fostering understanding among diverse communities.

We kindly request that you support this petition calling on the Prime Minister of Japan to respect religious freedom as enshrined in international human rights standards:

1) Uphold Article 18 & 19: Recognize every individual's right to freedom of religion as stated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

2) Reject Discrimination: Ensure that no legislation is passed that targets specific religious groups or restricts their ability to practice their faith freely.

3) Promote Dialogue: Encourage open dialogue between the government, religious organizations, and civil society to address any concerns or misunderstandings.

4) Protect Diversity: Embrace the diversity of religious beliefs within Japan and foster an environment where all individuals can peacefully coexist and contribute positively to society.

By signing this petition, you are standing up not only for members of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification but also for the principle that every person deserves the right to believe in and practice their chosen faith without interference or discrimination.

We urge Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and other relevant authorities in Japan to reconsider this proposed legislation which threatens our freedom of religion. Instead, we call upon them to foster an environment where diverse religious beliefs are respected as an integral part of a harmonious and inclusive society.

Let us come together in support of religious freedom, recognizing that by protecting the rights of one faith community, we are safeguarding the rights of all. Sign this petition to ensure that the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification can continue to practice their faith freely and contribute positively to our shared goal of world peace.
