This petition requests that the language in California’s Assembly Bill 5 be amended to include all cosmetologists, not just booth renters.

Background:

A recent state Supreme Court decision in the case of Dynamex Operations West, Inc. v. Superior Court of Los Angeles regarding 1099 issues is now threatening independent contractors around the state.   Assembly Bill 5 was recently amended to exclude cosmetologists from the Dynamex decision, which is great news! The bad news is the language is only for booth rentals and requires additional permits.  

We need your support to tell the State Senate that cosmetology is more than booth renters; it is all freelance beauty professionals who should not have to apply for additional permits! Sign this petition and let the State Senate know that all freelance beauty professionals deserve to be treated the same way—as independent contractors and they should remove the booth rental permit requirement!
