Why this petition matters

Started by Angelia Alexander

Aliyah (a sophomore) was recently expelled from school for defending herself after being bullied by 2 seniors and then being violently pushed by one of them. Her reaction was only a strong move, not a push which is what’s she’s being accused of. Aliyah is a National Honors Society member who has not been in any trouble before and is loved by all of  her teacher’s, teammates and classmates. This was an isolated incident in which the video recorded by the school’s security system skips the part when Aliyah was assaulted, only showing her reaction. Per the Dean of Students, the skipping of the Video is a known issue with the IT department. They we’re informed that the cameras  where the incident occurred (and was ultimately used to make the determination to expel Aliyah) had been skipping. The senior who assaulted Aliyah is the daughter of a parent  who holds a high position for the school. We’re seeking the full video footage showing this young lady pushing Aliyah aggressively first.

Thank you
