Star Wars has been a Worldwide Franchise, Beloved by hundreds of millions (Perhaps Billions) of people since 1977. I don't need to write a novella about what Star Wars is, nor go into the vast amount of reasons why Fans love it, to all the various levels that they do. You know it, you Like it, or Love it, or Both. 

I ALSO do not need to go into great depth about the fact that since roughly 2015... things have not been going well in that Galaxy, 'Long Ago and Far Away'. Things have not been going well at all. This is known. Sadly, it seems that the current holders of Star Wars, do not like what it was, and have been trying very hard to change what it IS. 

The results, objectively, have been dismal for the franchise, financially. The results, subjectively, has been a great amount of love lost, which is just as dismal, if not more so. 

But it doesn't HAVE to be that way. In our current Internet/Social Media Era, Fans can communicate like never before. With all the damage that has been done to Star Wars this past decade, how much more can this world we love take? So, concerned about that, it occurred to me- 

Why did Star Wars became the beloved phenomenon it is (was) in the first palace? Because people all over the world, got caught up in George Lucas' creation. Who made this imaginary playground known all over the world? 

YOU DID. The FANS. So I suggest this- Bring Star Wars back to what it was, by the same means, it became what it IS- Passion, Fun, Creative Inspiration and so on. As a Fan Community, turn your back on what the Franchise has become, and embrace the Extended Universe again. It wasn't perfect, but most of us can agree *now* that it was far superior than current material. 

"But it's no longer CANON!" Some may object. Yet Star War became huge because of the Fans, so who, ultimately could decide that issue, if enough of us came together and just... ignored this past decade?

On YouTube, is a lovingly made CGI Animated version of 'Star Wars: Heir to the Empire - Part One' (Which I have no association with) If we gave our love, interest, passion and ATTENTION to such works in great enough numbers, Corporations may say, 'We OWN THIS. That's just your *headcanon*' it wouldn't matter what they say, it would only matter where our interest and attention lay. 

We don't need money for this, we don't need to pay fans to make works that will violate IP law. We can give our Time, effort, attention and creative energy to these labors of Love. 

Declare the EU Canon. It gave far more respect to George Lucas' creation and far more honor to all the creators that contributed to his work. 

It's also a far better option than continuing to give money to those who clearly do not like what you loved.
