Save our kindergarten class!
Save our kindergarten class!
Why this petition matters
Dear St. Ignatius Families,
As you may know, our school is losing a kindergarten classroom next year which also means we will be saying goodbye to Mrs. Denise McKay.
Instead of having three reasonably-sized full day kindergarten classes, our youngest learners will be lumped together in two much larger classes. It's a well established fact that students thrive in small classes, especially at such an early age. We need to make sure their emotional, physical and developmental needs are met which is impossible in large classes.
This downsizing also means we are losing a valuable member of our school community, Mrs. McKay. During lockdowns, Mrs. McKay has pivoted from in-class to online learning effortlessly. Her continued presence reassured her entire class who continued to excel given unpresidented challenges. Our youngest learners have never experienced a normal school year so they deserve continuity by seeing their teacher this fall.
Please sign this petition to show your support in keeping all three of our full day kindergarten classes. Tell the Wellington Catholic District School Board we prioritize our kids' education and support our school community.
Thank you,
