Why this petition matters

Started by Real American

This petition hereby requests that Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice bring a case against Kyle Rittenhouse for Federal civil rights violations and hate crimes committed by Rittenhouse against peaceful protesters exercising their First Amendment rights on the night of August 25, 2020, following the police shooting of Jacob Blake, an unarmed 29-year-old Black man in Kenosha, WI.

Rittenhouse (17) crossed state lines with the intention to carry a loaded AR-15 military-style weapon purchased by someone else & then given to him (planned in advance) -- which he was not legally old enough to possess in his home state on the night he shot Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber, and Gaige Grosskreutz -- into a legally assembled protest for the purpose of intimidation (at the very least) and/or inflicting injury or death (at worst) against peaceful protesters exercising their First Amendment right to assemble.

The protest Rittenhouse targeted was a Black Lives Matter related event, which speaks to his likely racist & white supremacist intentions.

In the United States of America, you have a First Amendment right to publicly assemble & protest, without being intimidated or shot by armed teenage vigilantes.

A video of Kyle Rittenhouse that was not accepted into evidence shows him talking about wanting to shoot people, and was filmed two weeks before the fateful events of August 25, 2020.

First Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

"This heartbreaking verdict is a miscarriage of justice and sets a dangerous precedent which justifies federal review by DOJ. Justice cannot tolerate armed persons crossing state lines looking for trouble while people engage in First Amendment-protected protest."
-- Congressman Jerry Nadler, D-NY

We The People electronically put our hand to this request made of Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice to bring Federal civil rights and hate crime charges against politically-motivated Kenosha shooter Kyle Rittenhouse.
