Why this petition matters

Started by Andrew Crommie

As the first people of this continent, and this great state, a monument must be erected on the grounds of the State Capitol Building in Austin Texas that would properly represent us Native Americans as a part of Texas History.  For hundreds of years we Native Americans, have been forced off our land and our history has been erased. Many of these tribes have since vanished due to colonialism. Apache, Comanche, Kiowa, Wichita, Tonkawa, Bidai, Caddo, Tawakoni, Kitsai, to name a few, were all Native American tribes that once lived in Texas before they were forced out or eradicated by colonialism. Now there are only three tribes in the state of Texas; Kickapoo, Tiguas and the Alabama-Coushatta. Native Americans in Texas and across the country deserve proper representation. Out of the 21 monuments on the capitol grounds not one represents the first people of this nation. My Ancestors.

Join me in this movement to recognize true history of Texas as well as America by telling Gov. Greg Abbott and Mayor of Austin Steve Adler, that we want proper representation of  Native Americans at the State Capitol. Because American history begins with Native history.
