It's easy to forget 102-year-old history, but it's time to correct that mistake, Philadelphia Phillies. As a rookie, Dave Bancroft helped to lead the Phillies to the World Series in 1915. He also pushed them near pennant titles in 1916 and 1917. Philadelphia sportswriters named him the city's all-time best shortstop ... in 1953! One of the best fielding shortstops ever, Bancroft also maintained solid hitting throughout the deadball era. (Teammates Grover Alexander and Gavvy Cravath were huge Bancroft fans.) After more than five seasons with the Phillies, Bancroft proved worthy of the Phillies' Wall of Fame. He's in Cooperstown. Now, let's put him in Philadelphia!
