Why this petition matters

Started by Joe Procopio

The taillights on the L and LE models of the USA model of the Corolla Cross are very unsafe

They only light up the very corner of the car, unlike the XLE models that extend onto the tailgate with LED lights.  They could do the same thing with the lights on the hatch but used regular taillights with halogen bulbs, anything to give the rear of the vehicle some more presence in the dark.

This affects every new owner of the Corolla Cross L and LE models, sold in the United States and possibly other countries as well.

I propose that Toyota either replaces all the L and LE models with the same LED lights found on the XLE model, or offer a replacement, or recall if you will, with a new light for the hatchback with a regular bulb setup.

We need more illumination in the rear of this vehicle.

My wife drives this car and I feel that without more illumination in the rear of the Cross, she will be susceptible to getting rear-ended at night while stopped at traffic lights or stop signs where there are no street lights to help illuminate the vehicle.  We have been rear-ended before at a stoplight, and we had ample illumination on the rear of our vehicle at the time, much more than what is available on the Corolla Cross.  Being this vehicle is being marketed to young families, the safer they can make it, the better-off the owners will be.
