Why this petition matters

Started by R. Tank

I am one of many men who have been deprived of our rights as fathers. Too often, custody is granted to mothers even when a father is the better parent. This personal experience has led me to call for a class action lawsuit against family courts for violations of men's rights in child support and custody orders.

The current system is biased and does not always act in the best interest of the child or respect the rights of both parents. According to a report by Pew Research Center, fathers are significantly less likely than mothers to be living with their children (69% vs 91%) (Pew Research Center, 2018). This disparity suggests an inherent bias within our family court system that favors maternal custody.

Moreover, it has been observed that men are often burdened with unfair child support orders. The U.S Census Bureau reports that custodial fathers received full payment 41% of the time while custodial mothers received full payment 44% percent of the time (U.S Census Bureau, 2015). Despite this small difference in receipt rates, noncustodial fathers were more likely to be ordered to pay child support at 52%, compared with noncustodial mothers at only 31%.

This petition calls on lawmakers and judicial authorities to reform family courts across our nation. We demand fair treatment for all parents regardless of gender when deciding on matters related to child custody and support orders. It's high time we address these systemic issues so every father gets an equal opportunity at parenthood.

Please sign this petition if you believe in justice for all parents - because being a good parent isn't determined by gender but by love, care and commitment towards one’s children.
