Why this petition matters

Started by Paul Morris

Bexhill-on-Sea is a picturesque coastal town in East Sussex, England, boasting a charming town centre and a rich cultural heritage that attracts many tourists, particularly during the summer season. However, plans to house an additional 1,200 asylum seekers (all men between 18 and 30) in the town have sparked concerns amongst members of the community.

"these men will be free to come and go as they please" means that the men in question will have the freedom to move and travel as they wish, without any restrictions or constraints. This could refer to men who are not under any kind of custody or detention, or to men who have been released from a particular place or situation where their movements were previously limited or monitored.

The phrase could also imply that the men in question have a certain level of independence or autonomy, and are not required to follow strict rules or schedules. It suggests that they are in control of their own actions and can make their own decisions about how they spend their time and where they go.

While we recognise the importance of supporting those fleeing violence and persecution, we feel that our community will not be adequately equipped to handle the strain that the proposed housing plan would place on our local services. We are particularly concerned about the additional demand that would be placed on our schools, hospitals, and other public services, which are already stretched thin.

Moreover, we worry about the potential impact on property values. The proposed housing site is located in a residential area, and we believe that the presence of a large number of asylum seekers would negatively affect the market value of nearby properties.

We respectfully urge the Government to consider alternative solutions that would address the needs of asylum seekers without placing undue burden on our community. We recognise the Government's duty to help those in need, and we ask that they explore other options that would better balance the needs of all stakeholders.

Signing petitions is an effective way to voice your concerns and objections, and can help shape government policy. We encourage everyone to make their voices heard and participate in the democratic process.
