On January 11, 2023, the Bellevue School District sent an email to the families of Woodridge Elementary students stating that Woodridge is one of 7 elementary schools in Bellevue that they are considering closing in the Fall of 2023 (next school year), based on decreased enrollment.  The proposal on the table is to close 3 of the 7 schools on the list.  This is devastating not only for the wonderful teachers and staff and current families, but also for young families that have moved to our neighborhood expecting to send their children to a neighborhood school.

The School District presented potential scenarios for closings and re-shuffling of kids and staff on January 12 to the Bellevue School Board.  There will be a community meeting with the School District on Tuesday, January 24 at 4:30 p.m. at Woodridge Elementary.  We urge all residents to attend and wear your Eagle gear and/or red and black.

The District plans to make a recommendation on the 3 schools to close on February 9.  This timeframe is not realistic to make an informed decision.  School transitions and re-zoning should take place over years, not weeks or months.  It is an unfair timeframe for the impacted teachers, staff and families.

Woodridge Elementary is the heart of our community, the heart of the hill. Please sign this petition to ask that the School District slow down their decision making, reconsider their options, and only close schools as a last resort.
