Why this petition matters

Started by Katana Tharpe

I am one among the millions of women diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a condition I have battled for about a decade. One of the most challenging aspects of this disease is insulin resistance, which has significantly affected my weight management efforts. After years of trying everything imaginable and using metformin with no real result, I found relief in Mounjaro - a medication specifically designed to regulate insulin, and many others have found relief in other similar medications including Zepbound, as well as Semaglutide like Ozempic, and Wegovy.

Last year, my insurance covered Mounjaro and it was the only treatment that ever worked effectively for me. However, now you must have a diabetes diagnosis to obtain coverage. This policy change has left countless women like myself without access to this life-changing medication.

Around 1 in 10 women are affected by PCOS worldwide (source: World Health Organization). Among these, approximately 70% experience insulin resistance (source: American Diabetes Association). The need for effective treatments like Tirzepatide and Semaglutide is undeniable.

We urge insurance companies to revise their policies and mandate coverage for Mounjaro, Zepbound, Ozempic and Wegovy in treating insulin resistance related to PCOS. This isn't just about one person's struggle; it's about improving the quality of life for millions of women globally who live with this condition daily.

Please sign our petition urging insurance companies to cover Mounjaro, Zepbound, Ozempic and Wegovy as an essential treatment option for those battling PCOS-related insulin resistance without requiring a diabetes diagnosis.
