Why this petition matters

Started by Channels UK

Bulls Lodge Quarry sits close to the Channels Development in North Chelmsford, Essex and due to poor planning and phasing of key infrastructure up to 250 extremely noisy, dirty lorries pass through the development on a daily basis, starting as early as 5.00am in the morning.

Hanson Aggregates who run the quarry have applied for a license to extend operating times meaning an even greater volume of high-powered lorries passing through a single route, potentially from 3.30am in the morning including Saturdays.

Notwithstanding the added danger for the local community from a constant flow of fast moving, heavy goods vehicles, residents require urgent mitigation measures to be invoked, specifically to deal with the noise but also the pollution created. This could be greater restrictions on when vehicles and enter/leave the site or some form of acoustic/protective barrier installed along the route (Channels Drive) which runs directly through the Channels Development.

Residents are asked to sign the petition to show support as this issue will adversely impact the community for at least another 12-15 months. This will strengthen representations that will be made to our MP, the City Council and Essex Highways.
