FedEx recently retired their fleet of MD-10 cargo airplanes. Included in this retirement was a historic airplane with the tail number of N306FE. N306FE was involved in a very famous hijacking incident in 1994. The battle that took place in the cockpit involved some of history’s greatest airmanship as the heroic flight crew fought off the attacker saving not only their lives but likely the lives of many on the ground. The full story can be read here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Express_Flight_705

Despite the airplane experiencing heavy damage after being flown inverted and exceeding airspeed limitations as the pilots thwarted the attack, N306FE was repaired and put back into service. In fact, it was one of the very last MD-10s in FedEx service when the type was retired at the end of 2022.
With the airplane now retired, it is slated to be cut up and melted down. It would be a huge loss to aviation history if that occurs. Join me in asking FedEx to commit to saving N306FE in honor of the heroic flight crew. The MD-10 (converted from a DC-10) is itself becoming a rare airplane as more and more are scrapped. Saving one would benefit the aviation community and there is no better one to save than N306FE. As of now, all we ask of FedEx is that they commit to saving it. After they commit to saving it, the discussions of what museum it belongs at can begin.

Thank you for your support! Let’s keep N306FE around for future generations!
