As of now, there is no plan to have a hunting season for spring bear in the state of Washington. This will be detrimental to the states forests, elk calves and deer fawns, and also the revenue that the state will lose from license sales and small town business. In the spring time, bears come out of hibernation very hungry and they strip the bark from small trees to eat the wood for an easy meal. This kills thousands of trees each spring. They also kill and eat elk calves and deer fawns in the spring as they are very vulnerable. The people who voted to not have a spring bear hunting season, made their decision strictly out of emotion and with no scientific facts to support their reasoning for not having a spring bear hunting season.  Having a bear hunting season in the spring time is a great management tool to help the forests and wildlife in the state of Washington. Please sign this petition in favor to have a spring bear hunting season permanently in Washington State. Our forests and wildlife depend on it, thank you.
