Why this petition matters

Started by Bolton North West

Local residents strongly oppose the plan to build a school on the Moss Bank playing fields along Captains Clough Road in Bolton BL1Please sign the petition to record your opposition of this proposed plan.   Whilst you are strongly encouraged to contact Bolton Council directly, a public petition means the public and local residents (and not just the Council...) have a measure or indication of the extent of opposition to this plan.

The proposal is opposed for numerous reason, including:

The well maintained fields are used by the local community for sports activities by children and adults alike, including Moss Bank FC.  This is of immeasurable benefit to the local community.

The area already has high levels of road traffic and congestion, especially at peak times and the estimated traffic of up to 500 cars at drop off and pick up is unsustainable for local infrastructure and the community. With the increased traffic would also come increased pollution for local residents including children.

There is also the excellent Church Road School in close proximity and also Johnson Fold School in the more locally, both of which could be expanded if only non-politically motivated and sensible use of funding would allow it.

Loss of Harpers Lane Allotments would be necessary to build associated school infrastructure.

A traffic survey to support the building of the school has already been conducted, during an unprecedented time of restrictions, home working and disruption, when traffic levels clearly would not reflect the norm.

Please protect our green spaces for local residents to enjoy for generations by making your views heard.

Please contact your local councillors, MP and Bolton Council. Let them know you disapprove and add your name to the petition!
