Why this petition matters

Started by Lisa Alexander

Hello fellow Franklin Neighbors,

You are probably aware by now that there is an egregiously large development being proposed for the property bordered by Liberty Pike and Daniels Drive, just south of the Factory at Franklin.

The Middle 8 Development Project consists of +/- 250 elevated family units (apartments), 6 single family homes, 12 duplexes, and 3 townhomes - a total of 271 residences with underground parking for 400 cars, and all of this designed to fit on just a little over 7 acres.

The Franklin BOMA (Board of Mayor and Aldermen) is preparing to vote this month to change the zoning of this property from a R4- Single Family Residential District to a HIGH DENSITY Multifamily Residential District.

NOW is the time that we need to act to have changes made to this plan and to have our voices heard.

This project will not only affect the local neighbors near the Factory, but if approved this development will lay the ground work for all future developments. This will be used to steam-roll over any Historical or Residential zoning restrictions that the town has currently. Approval of this project will assure that this is NOT the last five-storey multi family project, but the FIRST of MANY.

We understand there is a need for more housing, the same need that is shared in every town in every state; this is not unique to us. But having such a huge development proposed in this small town does not fit the character and charm of Franklin, what drew us all here in the first place. We are open to the idea of housing in that area and on that land, but THIS PROPOSAL IS NOT IT.

So how can you help?

1. Sign this petition so that we can demand changes resulting in a reduction of the scope and size of the project.
