Why this petition matters

Do you live, work, or ever travel to or through Montgomery County, Maryland? Do you have a Maryland Handgun permit, or in a post Bruen-decision world think you may ever wish to? Do you support the right to self-defense in public? If so, please join us in opposing Montgomery County bill 21-22.

This bill would ban possession of any firearm, ammunition, or major firearm components within 100 yards of any "place of public assembly", even for Handgun Permit holders. The county has broadly defined this as "a place where the public may assemble, whether the place is publicly or privately owned". This covers essentially the entire county, because people "may assemble" virtually anywhere. We cannot allow the county to prevent law-abiding permit holders the right to self defense as they travel throughout the county.
