Why this petition matters

Started by Danielle Morrall

For people with disabilities and who require a Blue Badge for a little assistance with parking their vehicle, this needs to be reapplied for every three years, even for people with disabilities for life.

The Blue Badge is free in Wales, up to £10 in England and £20 in Scotland, and this charge must be paid every single time you reapply which I find very unfair and unjust. A lot of people are not even aware that these charges are applied.

It is no privilege to be disabled, or to have mobility issues, and I do not believe this charge is reasonable or justified. Holding a Blue Badge should not necessarily mean you can park for free. The main purpose of a Blue Badge is to be able to park closer to your destination, have the use of a larger parking space for wheelchair accessibility, or to have no time limit on your parking.

I will take this petition to government officials with my main purpose being to have the charge abolished and to also have applications for Blue Badges assessed on individual basis, as I do not believe that a person who has lifelong disabilities or mobility issues should have to continually reapply every three years.
