Why this petition matters

Currently in the U.K. there is a lack of legislation that determines who can and cannot perform cosmetic surgery. The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (The BAAPS) feels strongly that this should be addressed with the aim of improving safety and outcomes for the public.

Cosmetic surgery is defined as surgery to alter someone's external appearance with the aim of improving their quality of life and psycho-social wellbeing (as defined by the World Health Organisation).

Properly trained surgeons should appear on the General Medical Council's  Specialist Register (GMC), verifiable on their website and listed in their area of specialist expertise.

Please sign this petition to raise surgical safety standards in the U.K.
