LGBTQIA+ students deserve access to books that truly represent and celebrate them!

Over the past two years, Republican lawmakers and grassroots groups have attempted the largest erasure of queer and transgender affirming books in history. 

Many state agencies and school boards across the country are banning an increasing number of books, attempting to remove LGBTQIA+ affirming literature from local libraries and schools.

Access to affirming media is incredibly important to the development and mental health of LGBTQIA+ youth across the US.

By banning LGBTQIA+ affirming media, red states are furthering the sense of isolation and self-doubt that is already often forced upon youth by their social environments. Socially affirming LGBTQIA+ literature is an important channel for many children to feel seen, accepted, and understood.

This petition will be presented to hundreds of libraries across the country, asking them to keep essential LGBTQIA+ media in their collection. 



If this petition is successful, we could help protect access to important LGBTQIA+ literature in red states across the country.
