Why this petition matters

Started by Carmen Wyton

Join the movement to improve Women's Health in Primary Care.

  • More gateways - access to diverse healthcare professionals
  • Less waiting - for practitioners, referrals, diagnostics and surgery
  • Better health - supported journeys, advanced screening,  and proactive health management

A gynecologist should be the last stop not the only stop!

Women's health is more than maternal health.  Gynecology in primary care is overlooked, dismissed, and underrepresented.  The inconsistency in gynecology clinical supports is glaring compared to obstetrics and urology. Primary care is not accessible, wait times are too long, guidelines for assessment and triage are not established and women's gynecology symptoms are dismissed and treated as normal.  Access to primary care and treatment delays are exacerbated for Indigenous women, new Canadians, marginalized populations, and women living in rural settings.

A recent survey provides evidence that there is a significant need for front line healthcare practitioner training in gynecology in order to advance routine preventative care and early detection, to proactively and efficiently triage women’s health.

YES!  Governments throughout Canada should improve women's health outcomes by enabling practitioner education and training in gynecology.

Advocate for women's health supports through all the ages and stages by encouraging your government to address inequities of women's health.
