Starting with the DJI Fly App; it is no longer possible to edit stick modes on Android devices and their very expensive Smart Controllers, and is outright removed from the FPV units entirely. Many people paid for - and were promised - this feature, only to find it either doesn’t function or is outright removed. After two years of customers begging DJI across forums to fix this broken functionality, their radio silence makes it clear that DJI has no interest to repair a function vital an entire subset of the RC population.

For years, stick mode on DJI drones has been effortlessly customizable, allowing people to map the controls to their preference. Many of us, myself included, learned to fly with inverted throttle controls like on Helis, Submarines, Cranes, and Airplanes. Removing this functionality without telling us both alienates paying customers, and also bait and switches your current customer base. Because of this, we’ve resorted to disassembling and rewriting their expensive controllers for a feature that’s been available for years without issue. With remote ID laws soon rendering our current drones illegal to fly, we will soon be left with no other options.

We demand DJI provide a solid timetable to fix these custom stick modes for Android Devices and Smart Controllers, and subsequently add this custom functionality into their FPV systems. As many programmers have stressed already, this is a simple I/O toggle that would take less than 30 minutes to implement or patch correctly. This functionality was promised to us in their manuals and product information, and not including it is dishonest at best, and actively harmful at worst.

We are not asking for something new, rather we are asking to restore functionality advertised, and that existed in every app prior. This will prevent people damaging their controllers in modifications, prevent crashing or mishandling drones, make conditions for flight safer, and allow us all to go back to working professionally, safely, and intuitively. Please do this for us.
