Why this petition matters

Started by Cailyn Wolski

The pickleball courts at Wain Park in North Saanich are a valuable community asset frequented by hundreds of local citizens. These courts serve as an essential outdoor recreation facility; promoting health and wellness within our community. However, plans to close these courts due to complaints from a few nearby residents threaten this beloved public space.

We believe there has been a lack of transparency and consideration for broader public input into this decision making process. Proven economical solutions such as those implemented at Carnarvon Park, Oak Bay pickleball courts have been ignored.

Closing the “most popular outdoor recreation facility in the history of North Saanich” not only deprives many people of their preferred recreation venue but also is a huge waste of taxpayer’s money.

We urge the Mayor and Council to reconsider the successful solution on sound mitigation (presented to them by local pickleball associations, SPPA & VRPA), that was used at a similar pickleball venue in Oak Bay. The pickleball community is committed to working with all parties to find the best solution.

By signing this petition you believe that the Wain Park pickleball courts should remain open.
